Paying your pension
Pensions are payable in monthly instalments throughout the pensionable period.

Contact the administrator if you would like a pension quotation, prior to retirement. This will give you the options open to you on retirement, either to take a cash lump sum up to 25% together with the payment of a monthly pension or to take a monthly pension without a cash lump sum. The quotation will give you the figures relevant under both options.

 

Pension Increases
Each pension payment will increase each year by the amount of the pension increase, on a date decided by the Trustees. The Pension increases will satisfy the requirements of the Indexation Laws, and the Scheme Rules.

 

When a Member dies – Bereavement
You can apply for an adult dependent pension if you are the spouse, or civil partner of a Scheme member who has died.  Please notify the administrator of the scheme when a member dies.

 

Divorce
Divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership can affect your AOPS pension. The court treats the value of pension benefits as an asset and may make an order to share the value of this asset between the parties involved.

Please notify the administrator if you divorce and your pension is subject to a sharing arrangement.
